About the owners
Dave Van Buren (a retired Richmond Police Officer and former SWAT Team member) started T.A.C.-Solutions with his wife, Dee Dee to keep people safe from harm. While offering their “Can You Survive 3 Seconds?” Concealed Carry Class they discovered a need for safety training without discussing firearms. Dee Dee became a NRA “Refuse To Be a Victim” ® instructor and soon became one of the top 10 instructors in the nation.
They are well received as speakers and their classes often qualify for continuing education credits.
In 2015 NRA.TV approached them to participate in seven educational videos’ that were released nationwide. Link to our video page. We hope to see you in class soon.
Dave Van Buren the owner, was in his first shoot out over 27 years ago when he was working undercover. (He worked undercover for most of his career! Yes, he had the Fu Manchu, ponytail, etc.) It changed his life; he became obsessed with “How do you use a firearm to save your life & your fellow officers?”
He realized civilians have 3-5 seconds to make a lifesaving decision and Police have even less time!
He designed a Defensive Handgun Training course for the Richmond SWAT Team, a course they still use to this day. It is such a great course it is mandatory for all Richmond Officers to attend this course.
With over 250 missions on the Richmond SWAT Team, they only had to use lethal force 3 times.
