Dave Van Buren the owner, was in his first shoot out over 27 years ago when he was working undercover. (He worked undercover for most of his career! Yes, he had the Fu Manchu, pony tail, etc.) It changed his life, he became obsessed with “How do you use a firearm to save your life & your fellow officers?”
He realized civilians have 3-5 seconds to make a lifesaving decision and Police have even less time!
He designed a Defensive Handgun Training course for the Richmond SWAT Team, a course they still use to this day. It is such a great course it is mandatory for all Richmond Officers to attend this course.
With over 250 missions on the Richmond SWAT Team, they only had to use lethal force 3 times.
